Socialist Days is an annual conference organized by the Center for Socialist Studies aimed at the discussion of political, social and economic developments in Egypt, the region and the world from a socialist perspective.
The Center for Socialist Studies is a platform for the dissemination of socialist and progressive ideas, founded by a group of socialist activists who believe that ideas should be linked to action. It is located in Giza as a volunteer-based institution. The Center runs its various activities through contributions of members, supporters and friends, but refrains from receiving donor funds. The Center also issues books and several publications including the quarterly Socialist Papers and the biweekly The Socialist. All activities of the Center stem from its members’ deep conviction of the possibility and necessity of socialism-from-below as an answer to all forms of exploitation, oppression, dictatorship, and discrimination.
The conference hopes to develop, deepen and spread debate among socialists; and between them and all progressive fighters for liberty and equality, in an attempt to create a movement linking ideas of struggle to the real world and its developments.
Socialist Days is open to everyone without any pre-requisites or conditions. Just come!
No need for anything. Registration is voluntary during conference.
Not a single piaster is required.
Consecutive translation into Arabic will be provided for all non-Arabic sessions.
Of course!
Just come to the venue in specified times in both the website and the flyer.
The conference is absolutely open for anyone interested!
This conference is financed by individual donations and contributions of the members, supporters and friends of the Center for Socialist Studies. The Center does not accept any donations from any institution or foreign donors. All participants in the conference (speakers and organizers) are not paid. Exceptions could be made for bands and musical performances who sometime receive symbolic rewards.
Socialist Days is, definitely, not for academia! The topics discussed are of interest to all activists, those concerned with public affairs, and to everyone fighting for justice, freedom, and equality regardless of their education or academic interests.
